Travelmarvel started its life in the 1980s, located in Rathdowne Street Carlton, Melbourne, Victoria. In 1996 Travelmarvel became part of the APT Travel Group - one of the most consistently awarded touring companies in Australia, and around the globe.
The founder of Travelmarvel was Clyde Harding, who was a very entrepreneurial person, and the father of Peter Harding who currently owns Grand Pacific Tours. In the company’s early days short tours took passengers on local shopping trips, ski tours, and trips to play the poker machines in NSW.
As the years passed, Travelmarvel extended its touring to include domestic travel to destinations including Australia’s Flinders Ranges, Red Centre, the Outback and Tasmania. Travelmarvel also provided budget tours to the North Island of New Zealand, opening the door to affordable overseas travel for many Australians.
Clyde was an inspirational leader with amazing vision and a great perception of what the customer wanted. He was a maverick who was prepared to do the ‘unconventional’ and explore new marketing opportunities that weren’t being tapped by others. His likeable, big personality gave him the ability to inspire others to partner with him in business or to travel with his company. Unfortunately Clyde passed away suddenly and left a huge void in the Australian travel industry. Travelmarvel was sold to World Travel Headquarters, and then to APT.
Today, as part of the APT Travel Group, Travelmarvel offers Premium Worldwide Experiences throughout Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Alaska, Europe, Vietnam and Cambodia, Russia, India, and South America. The company has earned a reputation of providing travellers with great value for money holidays.
