Five of the Best Adventures by Foot

From Australia and New Zealand, to the Northern Hemisphere's Europe and Canada. Here are five of the best walks to discover in these iconic locations around the globe.

Discover the beautiful Richardson's Beach at Freycinet National Park.

1. Freycinet National Park

The kilometre-long Richardsons Beach is a lovely stretch of soft sand, framed by rocky outcrops at each end and backed by native bushland. Take a walk with a naturalist guide, keeping an eye out for wallabies, pademelons, echidnas and seals. Embark on Travelmarvel's 10 Day Grand Tasman to explore Freycinet National Park.

2. Mammoth Cave

See the ancient fossil remains of long-extinct giant animals during a walk through Mammoth Cave on the 14 Day Wonders of the South West tour. Wander through the cave's chambers on the boardwalk and enjoy this nature experience.
Aerial view of the Bay of Islands, North Island, New Zealand

3. Bay of Islands

Whilst on Travelmarvel's 15 Day New Zealand Getaway, a full day in the Bay of Islands region of New Zealand’s North Island is an invitation to head onto one of the area’s many trails. Walks range from short strolls to the top of Flagstaff Hill at Waitangi and to the place where the treaty between Maori chiefs and representatives of the British Crown was signed in 1840, through to a longer bushwalk to the impressive Haruru Falls.

4. Nuremberg

One of Europe’s great medieval cities, Nuremberg became synonymous with Hitler’s sinister mass rallies and was largely destroyed in World War II. Restoration allows us to see places such as the Zeppelin Field, where the rallies were held, and the Palace of Justice, where war criminals were tried, in a lovely city that rewards walking. Discover Nuremberg on a Danube River Cruise during your European Gems tour.
View of Maligne Canyon Canada

5. Maligne Canyon

The deepest canyon in the Canadian Rocky Mountains – it plunges more than 50 metres in some places – is easily accessible thanks to a series of bridges. Come across this canyon on the 21 day Reflections of the Rockies and Alaska Cruise. Close to the town of Jasper, Maligne Canyon’s spectacular rock formations, caves, waterfalls and roiling river are perfect for a guided morning walk along its deep rocky caverns.
Whether the location is closer to home or further afield, there will be a place to wander by foot with Travelmarvel. Find your destination of choice and explore more in our brochures.
