Today you will be transferred to a local train for the colourful and rustic journey from Kolkata to Farakka. Make your way past bellowing food hawkers and over-laden porters to your rail carriage. Once you’ve settled into your seat, watch the landscapes of India unfold before you. Upon arrival in Farakka, you will be transferred to your river ship for your incredible seven-night cruise.

Discover the city of Gaur. This quiet, deserted place was once one of India’s great cities, first under the Hindus and then as the Muslim capital of Eastern India from the 14th to 16th centuries. The city is strewn with ancient monuments and the remains of mosques. Rejoin the ship near Jangipur. Set sail down the Lower Ganges and moor at Baranagar for the night.Daily :
This morning, take a stroll through the fields of Baranagar. Here, visit three miniature terracotta temples before continuing down the Lower Ganges. Continue cruising downstream to Murshidabad where the Hazarduari Palace dominates the waterfront. Later, see the Katra Mosque before visiting Kathgola Palace.Daily :
Sail downstream a short distance before a visit to the Khushbagh garden. Continue cruising to a rural mooring close to the battlefield of Plassey, where a 1757 battle changed the course of Indian history.Daily :
In Matiari, see first-hand how locals beat brass to make water pots and other utensils, while learning the heritage behind the workmanship.
Explore the riverside village of Matiari, then it’s onwards through the countryside to Mayapur. See the ISKCON temple, which dominates the town’s skyline. As the headquarters for the Hare Krishna movement, the temple receives over a million singing and dancing devotees a year from around the world.Daily :
Embark on a traditional rickshaw ride through the town of Kalna and take in all its main sights.
Discover Kalna today, and visit its famous terracotta temples, as well as the unique Shiva temple, with concentric rings make up of 108 shrinelets. Sail on to Hooghly to visit the imposing Imambara and then on to Chandannagar.Daily :
