Cai Be, Sa Dec
Visit Cai Be and its surrounds by tender boats, admiring the colours and buzzing atmosphere. After, go ashore to see the French Gothic cathedral. You’ll then visit a manufacturer of rice paper to learn how it’s made. Afterwards, take a boat ride to the charming town of Sa Dec for a guided tour. Voyage by small boat to the old house of Huynh Thuy Le, once the lover of French writer Marguerite Duras, the namesake of your vessel.Daily :
Tan Chau, Border Crossing
Go ashore for a rickshaw tour of Tan Chau, a sleepy town almost untouched by tourism. One of the largest silk-weaving centres in Vietnam, you can observe how silk is woven in the local workshops. Take a small-boat ride to discover rural life on Evergreen Island. Later, navigate narrow channels by local boats and pass by floating fish farms and stilt houses that defy gravity and lean haphazardly upon each other. The rest of today is then spent on board. This afternoon, perhaps attend a fruit-carving demonstration or learn the art of creating Vietnamese spring rolls while border formalities are carried out. Today begins your exploration of the city of Phnom Penh. After breakfast, learn of the atrocities inflicted upon Cambodians during Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s. Explore the Killing Fields, where you’ll find the Memorial Stupa, a glass monument erected in memory of the thousands of Cambodians who lost their lives. You’ll also visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. After lunch on board, disembark and visit the spectacular Royal Palace, delighting in its dazzling white and gold architecture. Then head to the glorious Silver Pagoda, set on the southern side of the palace complex.Daily :
Oudong, Phnom Penh
In Oudong, receive a traditional Buddhist blessing by monks, sure to be a memorable highlight of your Mekong River cruise.
Get a taste of living like a local with a ride on what is coined the ‘Khmer limousine’, an ox-cart. Traverse rice fields as you head back to your ship.
Travel to Oudong, the former capital of Cambodia and a place of pilgrimage for the Cambodian Buddhist community. Visit the spectacular Buddhist monastery where you will have the opportunity to partake in a Buddhist blessing ceremony. Afterwards, you will have a traditional experience of an Ox Cart ride, which will take you around the villages. In Phnom Penh, the afternoon is free for you to explore or perhaps enhance your time by choosing one of Travelmarvel's select experiences such as a tuk tuk ride to uncover the sights and sounds of the city, or gain a greater appreciation of the local beers at the Kingdom Brewery (all at own expense).Daily :
After breakfast, awake in the town of Oknha Tey, known for it’s traditional silk weaving and is often referred to as the Silk Island. Hop on a local tuk tuk for a village tour. Discover rural life from the local homes to the rice fields and the faces of the friendly locals. You can also continue on foot for a more in-depth exploration of the village. Enjoy lunch onboard as the ship sets sail for Angkor Ban. As you sail along the Mekong, enjoy some time at leisure. Perhaps take a dip in the pool, sit back and read a book on the Sun Deck as Mekong life passes you by.Daily :
Angkor Ban, Koh Pen
This morning, enjoy an immersive tour of Angkor Ban, a village awash in stories of Cambodia’s cultural history, and one of the few traditional villages that survived the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970’s. During a walking tour you will be able to view the traditional wooden houses standing intact on stilts which are shaded by banana trees and get amongst the hustle and bustle of the daily agricultural activities of the locals. After lunch, enjoy a tuk tuk tour of the agricultural island of Koh Pen. Travel along the shaded lanes and past wooden stilted houses tucked amongst palm and sandalwood trees. Depending on the time of year, you can see a variety range of crops growing, including tobacco or betel nuts, as well as coconuts and tropical fruits.Daily :

After breakfast your Mekong River cruise comes to an end. Bid farewell to the crew and disembark for your transfer to Siem Reap. En route, travel through rural villages and absorb the changing views as you get closer to Siem Reap. This afternoon, set off to discover Ta Prohm, well known for the tree roots that are intertwined amongst the stonework. On the way back to your hotel, visit Opportunities for Development thru Art (ODA), an organisation that provides education opportunities for disadvantaged children.
