Cruise the Douro River in 2024 on Travelmarvel's New MS Estrela

Launching in June 2024, the brand-new MS Estrela will sail the breathtaking beauty of Portugal’s Douro river.

Guests will be captivated by its elegant design and impressed by its attention to detail. This 80-metre-long vessel has been thoughtfully crafted and custom-designed to sail the Douro River. With a capacity of just 120 guests, the MS-Estrela offers an intimate and personalised journey, boasting a variety of elegant social spaces where you can relax, mingle, or take in stunning river views.  

David Cox, the CEO of Travelmarvel, discussed designing the ship for our guests. 

“Purpose designed with our guests from Australia, New Zealand and the UK in mind, we have incorporated key features including a Sun Deck featuring an outdoor bar with couches, chairs and tables as well as a large swimming pool and a golf putting green. We are delighted and proud to have the MS Estrela, meaning star in Portuguese, join our fleet of stars sailing in Europe,” Cox said. 

Each suite on the MS Estrela is equipped with an ensuite bathroom, complimentary Wi-Fi, and personal climate control. The balcony suites offer an additional delight with electric slide-down windows, opening to a French balcony, allowing you to savour memorable views and connection to the scenery as it glides past.  

A true highlight of the MS Estrela is in its culinary offerings. The onboard fine-dining restaurant serves up flavours of Portuguese, Mediterranean and international fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For a more casual dining experience, you can enjoy light meals in the main lounge or alfresco on the exterior deck, surrounded by picturesque landscapes. With a range of entertainment also available in the evenings, guests can expect a vibrant atmosphere on the ship. 

The 8-day Douro Discovery is the perfect way to experience the wonders of this magnificent river, setting sail from the vibrant city of Porto. You'll embark on a captivating adventure that will take you to 11 towns, villages, and cities along the Douro River.
