Embark on a scenic journey which takes you along Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point, where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. The most south-westerly tip of Africa, Cape Point is covered in endemic fynbos and home to bays, beaches and rolling green hills and valleys. Stop for a light lunch then watch the penguins totter along the shoreline at Boulders Beach. Continue to historic Simon’s Town for some time to wander at your leisure. Named after Simon Van Der Stel, an early governor of the Dutch settlement, who arrived in the Cape in 1679, Simon’s Town is South Africa’s third oldest settlement. Today begins with a cableway ride to the top of Table Mountain, followed by a city tour. With a free afternoon, perhaps choose from one of our select experiences. Take a ferry ride to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned; enjoy an African Heritage Tour; discover the Constantia Wine Valley; or enjoy the floral displays at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. Today, discover the subterranean formations of the Cango Caves. Then follow the curves of the Garden Route to Knysna. Straddling the southern coast of South Africa, the 300-kilometre-long Garden Route takes its name from the stunning and ecologically diverse vegetation that typifies the region. Visit Monkeyland Primate Reserve where you’ll gain first-hand insight into the conservation principles adopted at this sanctuary, which is also the world’s first free roaming multi-species primate sanctuary.
Continue along the Garden Route. Later, continue along the Storms River Mouth in Tsitsikamma National Park. Then journey through the coastal reserve of Tsitsikamma Forest on the way to Port Elizabeth, one of South Africa’s largest cities. Visit the Mandela House and learn about the legacy of Nelson Mandela and visit a local shebeen tavern. Spend the evening relaxing, or perhaps venture out and explore the nearby shops and peruse the restaurants close by.

Cross the border into Botswana and arrive later in the heart of Chobe National Park, home to the largest concentration of game in Africa. This is the best time of the day to see large herds of elephants, as well as a plethora of other animals, that flock to the banks of the Chobe River. It’s time to explore Kenya. Your first stop is Amboseli National Park, arriving at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge in time for lunch. Located against the magnificent backdrop of Mt Kilimanjaro and in the heart of this world-famous national park, the lodge offers you the perfect base from which to embark on your Kenyan safari. After lunch, you will enjoy an afternoon game drive to look for the Big Five as well as hippos and a variety of water fowl which can be found near the park’s wetlands. Sundowner drinks at Observation Hill rounds out a perfect first game drive in Amboseli National Park. You’ll then return to the lodge to relax and enjoy an expertly prepared dinner.

It’s onto the next adventure as you take a short flight to Nairobi. Continue by 4WD to Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, arriving just in time for lunch. The afternoon is all about wildlife spotting, with an afternoon game drive. You may also wish to take advantage of the lodge’s beautiful surrounds and embark on a stunning nature walk around the property.

Bound by rocky escarpments and brimming with hordes of animals, a day of game drives at Lake Nakuru National Park offers yet another window into life in Africa’s animal kingdom. This morning, look for awe-inspiring white rhinos around the soda-encrusted lake at the centre of the park. Keep your eyes locked on the grassy plains in search of zebras, buffalo and graceful Rothschild’s giraffes. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a leopard. Soak up the dramatic landscapes of the Great Rift Valley, which stretches from the Middle East all the way to Mozambique. Onwards, you’ll be greeted by the endless plains of the Masai Mara, a region famous for its big cat population, including leopards, lions and cheetahs. The vast open spaces provide excellent game viewing, which is why this reserve is one of the most well-regarded for wildlife in all of Africa. At certain times of the year, you may see enormous herds of wildebeest, gazelle and zebra travelling to and from the Serengeti in search of food during the incredible Great Migration. Plus, you can also see the predators who follow them. This afternoon, head out on an exhilarating game drive, noticing how different these landscapes are compared to those you experienced in Southern Africa.

Enjoy your final morning in the Masai Mara, then transfer to the airstrip and board your scheduled flight to Nairobi. Be met by a bus on arrival at Nairobi and then transfer to Arusha in Tanzania, with a packed picnic lunch to enjoy along the way. You’ll arrive later at The Arusha Hotel, believed to be one of the oldest in East Africa, established in 1894 and now offering a touch of nostalgia balance with modern. Arusha lies in the shadow of Mount Meru, an active but dormant volcano and Tanzania’s second largest mountain next to the colossal Mt Kilimanjaro. Transfer to Arusha Airport for your flight into Serengeti National Park. You’ll be met on the ground by your driver guide for a game drive. Leaving Serengeti National Park, take a 4WD out to Oldupai Gorge to explore one of the world’s most important archaeological sites. Then it’s off to World Heritage-listed Ngorongoro Crater. Marvel at the lush green scenery as you descend down the high crater walls. Enjoy a picnic lunch and go in search of wildlife, before heading to your charming accommodation. The rustic lodge is set in the coffee plantations on 750 acres of private farmland, offering views of lush hillsides and the imposing Oldeani Volcano.

In Mto wa Mbu, visit a local school and see what daily life is like for the students. You’ll end the tour at a local restaurant where you can try a range of East African dishes.
Travel to the tiny village of Mto wa Mbu. Enjoy an afternoon game drive at Lake Manyara, famous for its flamingos and baboons which reside here. As you head off-road, keep an eye out for the tree-climbing lions. Later, travel back to Arusha for the night, where you will savour dinner at your lodge.
