Today you will embark on a sightseeing tour to take in some of Kolkata's famous landmarks, including the vibrant Mullik Ghat Flower Market. Other highlights include the Howrah Bridge and 'Nirmal Hriday', most commonly known as Mother Teresa's House. This afternoon why not explore further on an optional Hertiage Walk (additional expense). Later this evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner at your hotel.

Today you will be transferred to a local train for the colourful and rustic journey from Kolkata to Farakka. Make your way past bellowing food hawkers and over-laden porters to your rail carriage. Once you've settled in to your seat, watch the landscapes of India unfold before you. Upon arrival in Farakka, you will be transferred to your river ship for your incredible seven-night cruise.

Discover the city of Gaur. The city is strewn with ancient monuments and the remains of mosques. Rejoin the ship later in the day near Jangipur. Set sail down the Lower Ganges. Moor at Barangar for the night.

This morning, take a stroll through the fields of Baranagar. Here, visit three miniature terracotta temples before continuing down the Lower Ganges. Continue on down past Azimganj, boasting some fine riverside mansions, to Murshidabad where the Nawab's great Hazarduari Palace dominates the waterfront. Carry on to visit the great Katra Mosque before driving out to see the Katgola Palace. Built in classical Georgian style by rich local merchants, Katgola Palace represents the other side of the coin of the 'White Mughal' period when English and Indian cultures came close to fusion. Moor overnight on the riverbank across from town.

Sail downstream a short distance then walk to the Khushbagh, a peaceful Mughul-style garden enclosing the tombs of the last independent Nawab of Bengal and his family. Return to the ship and continue downstream past the old British cantonment of Berhampur to a rural mooring close to the battlefield of Plassey. You can walk through the fields to the commemorative obelisk. Cruise on to a mooring near Katwa, a market town with narrow bustling bazaars.

Discover Kalna today, famous for its iconic terracotta temples. Sail on, leaving fields behind and arrive at the outskirts of Kolkata. Land at Hooghly to visit the imposing Imambara. With verses from the Koran written on its walls, the Imambara is an opportunity to step back in time and relive a slice of Islamic history in Bengal. Sail downstream past fine waterfront buildings and the old Dutch settlement at Chinsura to moor at Chandannagar.

Today you will explore Delhi, India's vibrant, hectic, awe-inspiring capital city. Visit Jama Masjid, a 17th-century mosque, then move on to New Delhi to visit Humayun's Tomb. Thought to have inspired the magnificent Taj Mahal, the tomb perfectly combines elements of Persian and Mughal architecture in its design. You'll also visit India Gate and the 13th-century Qutab Minar.

Transfer to the station where you'll board the Gatimaan Express to Agra. Once in Agra, embark on a sightseeing tour of the World Heritage-listed Red Fort. The structure took over 22 years to build and is a wonder to behold. Its glittering white marble domes inspire awe, and almost seem to change colours throughout the day depending on the position of the sun.

Transfer from Agra to Ranthambore National Park, stopping en route at the abandoned ancient city of Fatehpur Sikri for a guided tour.
