Siem Reap, Embark Ship at Kampong Cham, Koh Pen
Today your cruise along the mighty Mekong river begins! Travel through rural villages to Kampong Cham to the mighty Mekong River, where you will embark the RV La Marguerite – your home for the next seven nights. Enjoy welcome drinks, followed by lunch in the Mekong Restaurant. This afternoon, enjoy a tuk tuk ride through the agricultural island of Koh Pen. Travel along the shaded lanes, past wooden stilted houses tucked amongst palm and sandalwood trees. Depending on the time of year, you can see a variety range of crops growing, including tobacco or betel nuts, as well as coconuts and tropical fruits. This evening, meet your Travelmarvel Cruise Director for the Captain's Cocktail Reception, followed by dinner with your fellow travellers.

Angkor Ban, Oknha Tey
This morning enjoy a tour of Angkor Ban, a village awash in stories of Cambodia’s cultural history, and one of the few traditional villages that survived the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s. During a walking tour, view the traditional wooden houses standing intact on stilts and shaded by banana trees. Return to your ship and continue sailing towards Oknha Tey – also referred to as the Silk Island due to its rich tradition of silk weaving. Disembark and board a local Tuk Tuk for a village tour. Discover village life from the local homes to the rice fields, and the faces of the friendly locals. You can also continue on a walk for a more in-depth exploration of the village.Daily :
Oudong, Phnom Penh
Enjoy an ox-cart ride and travel to Oudong for a Buddhist blessing.
Travel to Oudong, the former capital of Cambodia and a place of pilgrimage for the Cambodian Buddhist community. Visit the spectacular Buddhist monastery where you will have the opportunity to partake in a Buddhist blessing ceremony. Afterwards, you will have a traditional experience of an Ox Cart ride, which will take you around the villages. In Phnom Penh, the afternoon is free for you to explore or perhaps enhance your time by choosing one of Travelmarvel's select experiences such as a tuk tuk ride to uncover the sights and sounds of the city, or gain a greater appreciation of the local beers at the Kingdom Brewery (all at own expense). With the next two nights docked in Phnom Penh, you are free to experience the nightlife of the Cambodian capital. Or stay on board and view a documentary on the Pol Pot regime in preparation for tomorrow’s discovery.Daily :
Start the morning with a sobering excursion to the Killing Fields and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum. Located on the site of the Khmer Rouge’s notorious Security Prison 21 (S21), learn about Cambodia's Khmer Rouge history as well as the resilience of the local people. After lunch, visit the Royal Palace and the spectacular Silver Pagoda. The remainder of the day is yours to relax on board or visit the markets to pick up some bargains. While here, the brave can try the local delicacies of fried tarantula and crickets, or try out your haggling skills. Tonight on board return to the ship for dinner followed by a special Khmer folk performance on board.Daily :
Border Crossing, Tan Chau
Relax on board as your ship cruises to the Vietnamese border. Perhaps attend a fruit-carving demonstration. Later, arrive in the Vietnamese town of Tan Chau.Daily :

Travel along the tributaries around Tan Chau, then go ashore for a rickshaw tour, visit a small island and local artisan workshops.Daily :

Take a boat ride to Sa Dec for a tour. After lunch, a local boat takes you to the river-land town of Cai Be. Go ashore to visit the local cathedral and a rice paper manufacturer. Enjoy your last dinner on board.Daily :

The La Marguerite was a smaller and more intimate ship. Less guests to deal with when disembarking etc. The included hotels were excellent, well located and good value.
